Rains and Mumbai are synonymous to each other. One can't stay without the other and the Mumbaikars neither.
Rains bring lot of happiness but a li'l bit more of potholes; Some water to the lakes but then to the railway tracks too. Lot of Traffic and cancellation of trains. But never dampen a Mumbaikar's passion to live life. They know the importance of time, work and at the same time know how to enjoy.
With the arrival of Monsoon, Mumbaikars start planning their free time. Because after enduring the batter of summer and heat, it's the right time to let all the heat evaporate; get drenched in rains, sing songs, dance under the clouds & shower and have lots of fun.
The city of dreams is not limited to just Bollywood and fast pace life. There is a lot more to it. Lets have a look at a few of those things which each Mumbaikar do and I guess anyone who visit Mumbai during rains must do.
MARINE DRIVE & SOME LOVE
|
Yes it was beautiful and yes it really is beautiful to experience rains and specially that first shower at Nariman Point; followed by a leisurely walk on Marine Drive is really rejuvenating. The cool breeze from the sea just refreshes and gives you what you need - #Happiness.
And their are a lot of things you can do there. Endless chatar patar with friends, sipping cutting chai or having garam Bhutta, sitting by yourself humming to the music of sea waves, getting back in touch with your innerself or romancing your love, well the list is endless.
The tranquility and freshness of the place is just breathtaking during monsoon. Do bring your camera to click a few shots of what's around you and how about a #selfie?
GATEWAY OF INDIA & DANCING BOATS
On a suhana mausam when its raining light you can try a ferry ride and have a getaway to Elephanta Caves Or can just have a boat ride along the sea, the view will be fantastic and worth capturing. You can also enjoy the tides by the harbour and see those boats dancing on the tune of waves. Come for a walk, enjoy some great street food like bhajiyas, vada pav or if you are in the mood of luxury, then The Taj Mahal hotel is right in front of the Gateway of India, go inside and splurge.
WINDOW OF YOUR ROOM & COFFEE
The rain is pouring down and you are in real good mood. The smell of that wet soil and diamond like drops of water. Nothing can beat a good hot cuppa, ipod, a pen and a notebook.
Music will make the sight lovely and will refresh your mind to pen down your thoughts to the mix by DJ Rains.

Long drives, friends, family or love of your life; whoever it is, a journey becomes worthwhile when you are with your near and dear ones. As it starts to rain, people start to pack their bags for the most awaited weekends they get. Nature lovers, adventurers, photographers that's what they love the most - #travel. Drenched in li'l water, through the cool breeze and some fog, its fun to travel some off beat tracks or trek through the green mountains. Some must do #monsoon weekend getaways are - Lonavala, Malshej Ghat, Matheran, Alibaug, Panchgani, Karnala. Make a trip and some memories.
SOUP & NOODLES
Heavy rains, its getting cold and you are trapped inside your house. Soup and Noodles comes to rescue. The comfort food of monsoon warms you up, gives energy and helps you get rid of that uneasiness. Slurp on some maggie "bus do minute mein" and soup to set the right chord of mood. Its a must have as it is healthy and tasty.

TERRACE & RAIN DANCE
The first shower, terrace of your building or lawn or even road and some peppy music is the best recipe to dance your heart out. The beats, the lights, the sight; rains gives you all. And how can i not mention the rain dance by Kajol in DDLJ; just start tapping and I am sure you will have fun and make some good dancing memories. Leave that umbrella behind and start doing some Aaj blue hai paani paani.
