A misty morning at Nandi Hills

Featured post on IndiBlogger, the biggest community of Indian Bloggers

It was a misty morning, I could feel the chill in the weather but was smitten by the watery feel in my hands, I was engulfed in clouds which I was not able to see but could only feel. That is Nandi Hills.

On my road trip ex- Bangalore, my brother opined me to pay a visit to Nandi Hills. I was tired from my marathon road trip on Day 1 but my traveler heart doesn't know the word 'No'. After sleeping at 01:00, I still managed to be awake and get ready by 05:00 to head to Nandi Hills.

The road was empty and way peaceful and serene. Around 60 km from central Bangalore, we made it to Nandi Hills in around an hour, just before sunrise. As we drove atop driving through the well laid winding roads, the wind became more and more chilly.

We chased the clouds and clouds chased us, we were amidst the cloud zone. On reaching uphill, we parked our car and set to explore the hill on foot but not before making our way to the view point which was our first stop.

I was perplexed to see the ocean of clouds below me. That was first of a kind experience for me. I literally felt, on top of the world. Not moving even an inch from my spot, I stood in silence, watched clouds moving as wind brushed my cheeks and the first rays of rising sun kissed my face and sparkled my eyes, many minutes passed but finally the spell broke and I was back to reality.

When sun rose amongst clouds, I was gazing from top of the Nandi Hills, mesmerized by the beauty of rays filtering out of the thick blanket of clouds.

After witnessing the sun playing hide and seek amongst clouds, we left to see the neighbouring temple dedicated to Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati and later we went exploring the hill.

It had rained a little and surrounding had become hazy. We then proceeded to an area which had series of tree houses (for excursion purpose and not for stay) which gave an effect of dense forest. I totally loved it, tree houses is definitely the highlight of Nandi Hills, very well maintained by the government, this area is a paradise for nature lovers. A perfect place to get some me time and for some soul searching.

I clicked many pictures before leaving this spiritual, peaceful and beautiful abode. Here are a few more postcards from Nandi Hills.

Nandi Hills is an ancient hill fortress also known as Nandi Durg, residing in the Chikkaballapur district near the town of Nandi in Karnataka.

Tips & Tricks:
  • Must visit for anyone visiting Bangalore. Needs half of your day (at least) as it is far from city.
  • I also suggest visiting Bannerghatta National Park post Nandi Hills. They together make one super relaxed nature-escape kinda day.
  • Go during winters or monsoon, drive safe.
  • Do carry a jacket.
  • Go before sunrise.
  • There's lot more to cover in and around Nandi Hills. Check about the other spots here: Link
